27.11.2025

On November 27, 2025, members of the NGO "Ukrainian Association of IT Professionals" participated in the international conference "Digital Transformation of Higher Education in Ukraine: Building an Integrated Ecosystem," which was organized as part of the EU Erasmus+ project DigiUni: Digital University — Open Ukrainian Initiative, with the support of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, the National Erasmus+ Office in Ukraine, and with the participation of representatives from Ukrainian and European universities, alliances of higher education institutions, and teams from other international Erasmus+ projects.

The event took place at Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv in a hybrid format. UAITP members Olena Chaikovska and Maryna Tolmach joined the conference online.

The goal of the conference was to unite the efforts of the Ministry of Education and Science, the Ministry of Digital Transformation, the National Agency for Higher Education Quality Assurance, heads and digital transformation departments of Ukrainian universities, as well as representatives of European partner institutions to exchange experience, acquired knowledge, and analyze risks regarding the DigiUni platform; to align project work with national digital and educational policy; and to engage universities in a broader concept of digital ecosystem development.

The conference program covered discussions on the national digital educational ecosystem and the impact of the DigiUni platform on the institutional development of universities. Best digitalization practices from European university alliances were reviewed, as well as issues of digital content, teaching methodologies, quality, and inclusivity.

The conference was attended by: Adrien Olszak-Olszewski, Policy Officer for Ukraine and Moldova at the Directorate-General for Education, Youth, Sport and Culture of the European Commission; Mykola Trofymenko, Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine; Volodymyr Bugrov, Rector of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv; Olga Budnyk, Advisor-Commissioner of the President of Ukraine for the Presidential Fund for Support of Education, Science and Sports; and Zhanna Talanova, Deputy Coordinator of the National Erasmus+ Office in Ukraine. The speakers emphasized the importance of the DigiUni project in the context of Ukraine's European integration and the development of high-quality, accessible, and inclusive higher education.

Indeed, the DigiUni project ("Digital University — Open Ukrainian Initiative") serves as a foundation for the transformation of higher education in Ukraine. It does not simply create a technical base through the launch of a national platform (DigiPlatform) and university DigiCentres, but also develops unified standards for digital learning and virtual mobility. The importance of the project also lies in its strategic scale: the initiative is a starting point for the full integration of Ukraine into the European Higher Education Area (EHEA). The implementation of the DigiUni project is intended to establish mechanisms for inclusivity and institutional resilience, which will allow Ukrainian universities not only to withstand crises but also to become competitive at the international level.

The international Erasmus+ project DigiUni (coordinated by Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv) is the largest Erasmus+ initiative in the field of digital transformation of education in Ukraine. It involves 21 partners from Ukraine and EU countries and 5 institutions as associated partners. The project aims to create an innovative digital platform that will help universities organize the educational process more effectively and improve its quality.
