In the context of global digitalization and the challenges facing Ukrainian higher education, the development of digital competencies among educators remains a strategic priority. The DigiUni project ("Digital University – Open Ukrainian Initiative") aims to modernize higher education in Ukraine by creating a unified digital ecosystem that meets European standards. One of the key elements of this transformation is Work Package 3 (WP3: Training for Trainers and Content Developers), dedicated to training trainers and content developers.
The main goal of WP3 is to prepare staff at Ukrainian higher education institutions to act as digital content facilitators, administrators, and quality experts. To achieve this goal, plans include the development of training programs, the delivery of international online training sessions based on the DigiPlatform, and the organization of internal replication sessions at Ukrainian partner institutions.
For educators (the primary target audience), a modular program has been developed based on international best practices and innovative pedagogy. The program covers topics such as:
 • Creating and implementing courses in a digital environment.
 • Developing digital education content and innovative teaching methods.
 • Fundamentals of intellectual property and principles of digital course accessibility.
The training of specialists follows a two-level model: first, trainer-facilitators (4 representatives from each partner university) undergo training, and they subsequently conduct internal replication training sessions at their own institutions. In total, it is planned to train 600 educators who will become online learning facilitators across the country.
The results of the DigiUni project envision that the Ukrainian academic community will not only gain tools for remote work but will also form a new culture of digital learning. The DigiPlatform, developed by Ukrainian and European specialists, will become more than just a technical tool; it will be a living environment filled with high-quality content created according to the highest standards of quality and accessibility.
The implementation of the DigiUni project is an important step toward uniting Ukrainian universities into alliances, developing regional university centers, and modernizing the network of higher education institutions in our country.
ERASMUS+ is the European Union's program for international cooperation with other countries in the fields of education, youth, and sport.
The program aims to support the educational, professional, and personal development of citizens within and beyond the EU to contribute to sustainable growth, quality jobs, and social cohesion, as well as to foster innovation and strengthen European identity and active citizenship.
The DigiUni project is focused on supporting higher education in Ukraine during martial law and post-war recovery. It has brought together participants from Ukraine and EU member states: 21 institutions as full partners and 5 institutions as associated partners.
The project began on December 1, 2023, and is scheduled for four years. The coordinator is Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv.
