On May 28–29, representatives of the NGO "Ukrainian Association of IT Professionals" Maryna Tolmach and Olena Chaikovska participated in the "Digital Transformation of Universities" conference, organized at the initiative of the Ukrainian Catholic University in cooperation with partner universities and the community of digital transformation leaders in higher education institutions.

The conference brought together higher education administrators, digital transformation experts, and representatives of the public and business sectors for an open dialogue on shaping the digital future of education. The event gathered key stakeholders working on creating a modern technological ecosystem for universities — from university rectors to representatives of government institutions and the corporate sector.

The conference program lasted two days and combined analytical and practical formats. The first day was dedicated to workshops, masterclasses, and small-group work, which allowed for a deeper exploration of education digitalization issues. The second day featured a discussion and applied format, including panel discussions, presentations of successful cases, and discussions on the implementation of artificial intelligence in the educational process.

The focus was on issues of assessing the digital maturity of universities, implementing artificial intelligence with consideration for ethical aspects, developing human capital and digital transformation teams, and partnering with business to create innovative educational products.

Within the framework of the conference, a specialized workshop titled "DigiUni — How Ukrainian Universities' Moodle LMS Work Together" was held, with Maryna Tolmach serving as one of the trainers. DigiUni (Digital University – Open Ukrainian Initiative) is an international Erasmus+ program project, in the implementation of which the NGO "Ukrainian Association of IT Professionals" participates.

The DigiUni project is one of the largest in the field of higher education in Ukraine, uniting 21 full partners — Ukrainian and European universities, as well as 5 associated partners, including the Ministry of Education and Science and the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine. The project aims to support the functioning of universities during the war and their future recovery, as well as to create an open digital educational environment and integrate European experience.

During the "DigiUni — How Ukrainian Universities' Moodle LMS Work Together" workshop, practical approaches to the effective use of learning management systems were presented, as well as the capabilities of the DigiPlatform, created based on Moodle. Participants learned about the principles of creating and administering online courses, mechanisms for inter-university exchange of educational resources, tools for ensuring a continuous educational process, and approaches to developing the digital competencies of teachers and students. The practical part included an analysis of real-world cases, a demonstration of the platform's functionality, and a discussion of the challenges and prospects of joint digital solutions. This format facilitated an active exchange of experience and the formation of new professional connections.

Hosting such conferences promotes the implementation of innovations, the development of digital competencies, and the integration of Ukrainian universities into the global educational space. The participation of UAITP representatives in such events strengthens the organization's expert community and contributes to the dissemination of best practices in digital transformation in education.
