From November 7 to 8, 2016, training sessions for university lecturers and researchers on the topic "User Interface and Game Design, Competence and Assessment of Learning Outcomes" were held at the Odessa National Polytechnic University within the framework of the EU Erasmus+ KA2 project "GameHub: University-Enterprise Cooperation in the Game Industry in Ukraine" (number 561728-EPP-1-2015-1-ES-EPPKA2-CBHE-JP).
More than 35 participants from leading Ukrainian universities took part in the two-day training: National Technical University "Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute", Odessa National Polytechnic University, and Kherson National Technical University.
The training sessions were led by representatives of the University of Deusto (Bilbao, Spain): Olga Dziabenko and Maria Yarosh.
At the beginning of the event, V.S. Shobik, Vice-Rector for Scientific and Pedagogical Work and International Relations at ONPU, addressed the participants with welcoming remarks. He emphasized that the ERASMUS+ KA2 program is a tool that helps modernize education by introducing the latest information resources into the educational process, and expressed hope for the active participation of Ukrainian universities, their interaction with international partners, and the establishment of contacts that will contribute to improving the quality of education in Ukraine.

The program of the second day of the training included presentations on the competence-based approach in education and criteria for assessing learning outcomes.
Training leader Maria Yarosh emphasized that the transition to a competence-based approach means reorienting educational activities from the process itself to its result, as well as shifting the focus from accumulating normatively defined knowledge, skills, and abilities to forming and developing students' ability to act practically and apply the experience of successful actions in specific situations.
