On October 11, 2023, the "Digital University — Open Ukrainian Initiative" (DigiUni) project, implemented within the framework of the European Union's Erasmus+ Program, was presented at Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv. This project, coordinated by Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, is designed for four years and is funded by the European Union under the Erasmus+ program.
The main goal of the project is to create a unified digital educational ecosystem that will ensure continuous, high-quality, inclusive, and transparent education, which can be obtained regardless of location, using digital innovations in the educational field.
In addition to UAFIT, the project team includes 10 Ukrainian universities, the Ministry of Education and Science, the Ministry of Digital Transformation, the National Agency for Higher Education Quality Assurance, as well as foreign partner universities and associations of EU member states from France, Germany, Spain, the Czech Republic, and Poland.
The DigiUni project is extremely relevant in the context of martial law and the post-war recovery of Ukraine. This project will make it possible to unite Ukrainian universities into an ecosystem to overcome key challenges and the consequences of Russia's invasion of Ukraine through digital technologies with the support of the EU.
UAFIT has been assigned a very important role in the DigiUni project, namely the establishment and administration of the DigiPlatform — a unified digital learning environment, on the basis of which all further project activities should take place, and subsequently the educational process, both for universities that are members of the consortium and for other educational institutions of Ukraine that will join in the next stages of the project implementation.
UAFIT has significant experience in participating in international Erasmus+ program projects, namely the iCo-op project ("Industrial Cooperation and Creative Engineering Education based on Remote Engineering and Virtual Instrumentation"), GameHub ("University-enterprises cooperation in game industry in Ukraine"), and the large structural project dComFra ("Digital Competences Framework for Ukrainian Teachers and Other Citizens").
We are confident that the implementation of the DigiUni project is the first step towards uniting Ukrainian universities into alliances, developing regional university centers, and modernizing the network of higher education institutions in our country.
ERASMUS+ is the European Union's international cooperation program with other countries of the world in the field of education, youth, and sports.
The program aims to support the educational, professional, and personal development of citizens in the EU and beyond in order to contribute to sustainable growth, quality jobs, and social cohesion, as well as to the development of innovation and the strengthening of European identity and active citizenship.
