Results of the Seventh IT Directors Congress of Ukraine

This year, the Congress was held in a cozy hotel complex near Kyiv (Zazimye) and brought together about 100 participants – members of the NGO "Community of IT Directors of Ukraine", IT directors, IT managers and IT specialists of enterprises and organizations of Ukraine and neighboring countries, as well as representatives of IT companies.

Today, businesses are learning to develop in conditions of low profitability, high uncertainty, and "expensive money." These very topics, projected onto IT, became the main focus of the Congress.

Productive personal communication with professionals working in the IT market (IT directors, IT specialists), the exchange of experience, methodological and analytical materials, and familiarization with industry solutions for enterprise management became the main idea of the Congress. To implement this, the Congress program included reports from IT market experts, IT directors of leading enterprises, business consultants, discussions with the participation of speakers and Congress attendees, and, of course, the organization of personal interaction among participants.

Everything was subordinated to one goal: in a short time, the Congress participants were to receive a complete picture of modern information technologies and the experience of using them for business management.

The Seventh Congress was opened by Volodymyr Buzmakov, Chairman of the Active of the NGO "Community of IT Directors of Ukraine" and, for the last several years, its permanent moderator.

The first day of the Congress was declared the Day of New Technologies aimed at increasing business efficiency. The main topics were:

• Reduction of IT costs
• Revenue growth through "IT tools" for working with consumers
• Business optimization through "IT analysis" tools
• New technologies in ERP

The program of the first day was very intense, but there was still time for the Congress participants to get to know each other, when everyone could introduce themselves and say a few words about themselves.

The second day was positioned as the Day of Discussions about ERP. Key topics for discussion were:

• what ERP systems are needed today?
• how to link ERP strategy and business strategy?
• how to properly organize an ERP project?
• how to take into account the positions of all stakeholders?
• how to properly form a project team when implementing an ERP project?
• motivation and training of ERP system users
• main factors to consider when preparing the budget for an ERP system implementation project

The discussions were preceded by two presentations characterizing the current state of the ERP market:

• The results of the study "Practice of IT Use in Ukraine - 2010", conducted by the NGO "Community of IT Directors of Ukraine", were presented by Volodymyr Buzmakov, Chairman of the Community Active
• Oleksiy Nesterov, Director of ERP Solutions at Firm "1C", spoke about the results of the study "Practice of Using 1C ERP Solutions in the Russian Federation and Ukraine"

The discussions were held with activity and interest from both sides – experts and the audience. The experts for the Congress discussions were:

The most active participants in the discussions received prizes from the sponsors and organizers of the Congress of IT Directors of Ukraine.

The unofficial part of the Congress – the traditional Beer Party – took place on the evening of the first day of the Congress. The main goal of the event was for colleagues and old acquaintances to meet and socialize in a relaxed, informal setting. During the party, valuable prizes from sponsors – Microsoft Ukraine, 1C Ukraine, SI BIS, and SMART business – were raffled off among the Congress participants. It is also impossible not to mention another event of the gathering – the ceremonial welcoming of new members of the NGO "Community of IT Directors of Ukraine": Yaroslav Koshmanenko, Volodymyr Gladun, and Yevhen Yeremenko.
